Pomegranate has been known for unlimited benefits in solving medical problems. For leaf to fruits, pomegranate has ability to prevent and cure several diseases. That’s why, people start considering on growing pomegranate trees.

It is possible to grow pomegranate in the backyard garden or in the buckets. The way to grow pomegranate is quite simple as well.

1. Choose the Variety

Pomegranate has varieties which indicate different tree size, and growing needs. If you have large garden, you may choose regular pomegranate. However, if you don’t have it, you can choose dwarf variety which has smaller size.

2. Choose Type of Growing

You can choose on how to grow pomegranate whether it’s seeds, cutting, or seedling based planting. The easiest way is to buy the seedling from local nursery around your place.

3. Prepare the Soil

The best soil to grow pomegranate is the one that has sunshine. Enough sun exposure is required for the place for growing pomegranate trees.

Avoid shady place which can cover the tress from getting sunlight. The soil should be drain, acidic, or sandy for better growing. Pomegranate like hot garden instead of moist and dark one.

4. Planting and Caring

It’s time to plant pomegranate seedling in the prepared soil. You just need to place the seedling under the soil by digging out the soil about 60 cm deep. Then, water it right after planting process.

You have to water it regularly everyday so the soil keep moist and the seedling grow well. You can increase the amount of watering when it has produced fruits, and reduce it when the rain falls.

Add some fertilizer, and remove all weeds around the tree. You can also remove all dead parts of the tree that can disturb the growth.

5. Harvesting        

You can harvest the fruits when they are matured. The sign is the distinctive color comes from pomegranate skin. If you tap the skin, there will be metallic sound coming out.

Hence, it’s the sign that the fruits have matured already. You’d better not to harvest them when they are over-matured because the taste will be slighlty changed and the arils will be harder.

You can make pomegranate juice for daily consumption and gain some benefits from it. Pomegranate contains antioxidant which good at fighting against free radicals.

It can also help to boost up immune system. Arils or the seeds of pomegranate are also a good source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They can help reducing the risk of heart disease, cancer, and digestive problems.

Furthermore, the leaf of pomegranate is also useful to treat some medical problem like insomnia, cough, eczema, diarrhea, and constipation. The leaf can be dried and then boiled.

You can consume the water that has been filtered from the leaf before, as tea to treat your medical problem. Thus, growing pomegranate trees is such a good investment because you can gain benefits right from your garden. Pomegranate is natural drug made by nature to improve health system.
